Tale of the Velvet Monkey...

Founded by Estrella Evans in 2001, the Velvet Monkey Salon was a simple operation... just a few chairs, some Vintage Fashion, and a lot of style.  Pretty soon there wasn't enough room to give everyone the Monkey treatment, so Estrella opened her second location: Velvet Monkey Too on NW 63d, and soon attracted a clientele that expected edgy, artistic energy and setting.

The spirit of growth in Oklahoma City enticed Estrella to open a third location, Velvet Monkey Downtown, where busy professionals soon learned there is always time to rock.

With the success of Velvet Monkey Too and Velvet Monkey Downtown,  it seemed natural to move the original Monkey out of the small location.  Enter the historic Plaza District, where a much larger space allows plenty of room to continue growing... just... like... hair.  The Vintage Boutique at Velvet Monkey Salon will surprise even the most jaded fashion hound.

Velvet Monkey Salons are dedicated to giving you the best beauty experience available, and well... we appreciate you voting us Best Hair Salon in OKC this year!  This acknowledgement lets us know that we need to keep doing things right, and work hard to keep you looking YOUR best.

Walk-ins for cuts and some services are welcome at all locations, but if you want a certain stylist or have a complex request, it is best to call and make an appointment.
